The Human Form, Revisited
Share
There is something I've wanted to explore since the beginning.
The human form.
Not simply the figure itself, but everything contained within it. Movement, tension, softness, strength, vulnerability, intimacy.
I've always been drawn to the way a single line can suggest an entire body. The way light falls across a shoulder. The weight of a hip. The curve of a back. A gesture that says something without saying anything at all.
My florals, my horses, my studies of movement & they've all been teaching me to see these things.
And now I'm turning that attention toward the figure.
I've been quietly working on anatomy studies, returning to observation, proportion, gesture and form. Some are gentle. Some are more provocative. Some I probably won't show everyone.
But this isn't a departure.
It's something that has been there from the beginning.
Perhaps I was simply waiting until I was ready to paint it.
And now, some of the studies are beginning to become something else.
Something I can't quite name yet.
