Patricia Ann

Filipino Visual Artist

I’m Patricia Ann, a Filipino artist based in Makati, Philippines.

My art is closely connected to the way I live. I’m a mother, dancer, athlete, solo traveller, and horse enthusiast, and these experiences naturally find their way into my work. I draw inspiration from movement, nature, animals, music, travel, and the people and places I encounter along the way.

My Art

My paintings explore movement, texture, and organic forms.

I primarily work with a palette knife, building layers of paint to create texture and dimension on the surface. I’m especially drawn to flowers, florals, animals, and natural forms, often incorporating subtle touches of gold leaf into my paintings.

I like the contrast between a painting being completely still while still suggesting movement. My background in dance influences the way I think about rhythm, balance, gesture, and flow.

Horses are another important source of inspiration. I’m drawn to their strength, movement, and presence, as well as the relationship between me and the horses I ride.

Beyond the Canvas

My practice is also expanding into performance art and aerial performance.

I’m interested in bringing together painting, music, movement, and physical performance to create work that can be experienced rather than simply viewed.

Dance has always influenced the way I understand movement, and I’m exploring how that understanding can translate into visual art and live performance.

For me, a painting can be the beginning of a story rather than the end of one.

Life as Inspiration

I don’t separate my life from my art.

I paint, dance, ride horses, train, travel, shoot and observe the world around me. I often collect ideas without deliberately looking for them. A particular movement, the texture of a flower, the expression of an animal, the atmosphere of a place, or a moment that stays in my mind.

Those experiences eventually return to the studio.

The studio is where I bring them together through paint, texture, colour, and movement.

International Art Practice

My artistic practice is developing through international exhibitions, art events, artistic exchanges, and relationships with artists, collectors, and cultural organizations in Asia and beyond.

As a Filipino artist, I’m interested in bringing my work into different cultural settings and introducing it to audiences outside the Philippines.

Travel is an important part of that process. Experiencing different countries, cultures, landscapes, and communities gives me new references and perspectives that continue to influence my work.

I am building an international art practice alongside my work in the Philippines, with a growing focus on international exhibitions, artistic collaborations, collectors, and cultural opportunities across Asia and beyond.

I see each exhibition as more than an opportunity to display paintings. It is a chance to meet people, exchange ideas, understand different perspectives, and allow the work to exist in a new environment.

PatriciaAnn.Art

PatriciaAnn.Art is the home of my artistic practice.

It brings together my paintings, exhibitions, creative projects, and ongoing exploration of movement, nature, animals, and performance.

My work continues to evolve as I experiment with new subjects, materials, larger-scale paintings, and new ways of presenting art.

Whether I am in the studio, on horseback, travelling, dancing, or simply observing the world around me, I am always gathering something to bring back into the work.

I create valuable art, and my art pays for the life I choose.
